The Sanyo PLC-XU73 and It's Bright Lamp
If you are looking for a great presentation projector with a bright picture and the ability to project onto a black surface then you may want to inquire about the Sanyo PLC-XU73. The PLC-XU73 has the right tools for office use such as a short focus lens, however it may not be as useful for the home theatre enthusiast. This projector has a very high lumens rating at 2000ANSI and can really make most projectors appear dull in most light settings. The key to its brightness is its 200W projector lamp which is strong enough yet still energy efficient and will last roughly 2000 hrs.
The contrast ratio is not very high at 450:1, however for office presentations that mostly use text, it is not uncommon. The high native resolution of 1024x768p makes up for the low contrast ratio and it can be bumped up to a maximum of 1600x1200p. Basically, although your blacks may not be as true and dark as you would like when watching a movie, optical clarity is still present, which is important for office use.

The Sanyo PLC-XU73 is compatible with most sources and has the hook-up’s that make it easy to sync to your computer. It comes equipped with a short-focus lens so that projector placement is simple and the option to set the projector to “Blackboard†mode in case you don’t have a white-screen.
It originally came out with a price tag of approximately $3000 USD back in 2005 when production first started however since the price has been reduced and you can pick one up brand new with a 3 year warranty for much less.
The Sanyo PLC-XU73 is light weight at 5 lbs, does not make much noise and should really be considered when looking for an office projector.
